Gaming
We design companion apps for games, game hubs for Asian markets, loyalty platforms for players and esports tools. We work with onboarding, character progression, microtransaction monetisation and a community that hears falseness in copy from a mile off.
We have worked with leading companies and startups
Challenges
Players stay when the first minutes make sense and the store plays fair
-
„We get plenty of installs, and most players never finish the tutorial.”
Onboarding audit (FTUE - first-time user experience), redesign of the tutorial and first session, validation with players from the target group. We measure D1/D7 retention.
-
„The in-game currency store sells, except players write that they feel cheated.”
UX audit of the store and virtual economy, redesign of offer presentation (without dark patterns), free-to-play balance. We measure conversion and community sentiment.
-
„The community has turned toxic and pushes new players out faster than we bring them in.”
Design of social systems with safety in mind (reporting, moderation, roles), research with community managers, anti-toxicity patterns.
Who it is for
Companion, esports, Web3 - three worlds, one player who doesn’t forgive cheap UI
Whatever the product profile - we hand over the design in a format readable for the development team working with game engines (Unity, Unreal) and a liveops backend.
-
Companion apps and game hubs
Mobile apps accompanying AAA and F2P titles, game hubs for Asian and European markets. Player avatar, mini-games, collectible items, in-app currency store, loot boxes with daily rewards, integration with the main game’s economy.
-
Esports and community platforms
Tournament tools, ladder systems, player profiles, panels for league organisers. Live stats, stream integration (Twitch, YouTube Gaming), scoreboards, anti-toxicity moderation, Discord integration.
-
Web3 gaming, fundraising and cashback
Play-to-earn platforms, NFT marketplaces for in-game assets, ICOs and tokenisation, cashback for players. The specifics: real asset ownership, EVM integration (Ethereum, Polygon, BSC), educating the player from outside Web3.
Process
Five steps - from the first conversation to post-launch measurement
We scale scope to the product. For a companion app the emphasis is on syncing with the main title (characters, progress, economy). For a game hub - on retention mechanics (daily login, loot box, collections). For an esports platform - on live stats, brackets, integration with Twitch and Discord.
- 30 min
Discovery call - 30 minutes
Online, with the lead designer. We get to know the product, the metrics you judge it by, and the regulatory context it operates in.
- Week 1–2
Audit and discovery
Analytics, session recordings, user interviews, heuristic review. The barriers people actually hit become design hypotheses.
- Week 3–6
UX/UI design
Wireframes, a prototype you can click through, the final interface. Documentation written for the team that will ship it - tokens, states and responsive behaviour included.
- Week 6–7
Validation
Tests with real users, or an A/B test in production. The design changes on the strength of what we saw, before it reaches code.
- After launch
Delivery and care
We work side by side with your developers - implementation review, fixes, additions to the library. After launch we measure and come back with the next hypotheses.

What our clients say
-
„Working with the Wzór team was a genuinely great experience! They always answered our questions quickly and were flexible about our comments. They have no shortage of creative ideas and are at the same time thoroughly reliable and on time. The end result fully met our expectations; we recommend them to anyone looking for professionals who care.”
Maja Wieloch-Silecka Operations Director, Bosfor Group -
„Our clients expect us to act fast and effectively across a very wide scope - from building a brand, through a website with a store, to running an effective sales campaign. Not an easy task, but doable when you have a tight-knit team and partners who take on challenges on the fly. For us, quality, accountability and commitment are key, and working with UX Agency Wzór gives us that 100%.”
Piotr Alberski Chief Operating Officer, Agencja XO Media -
„Our cooperation with UX Agency Wzór started with our own website. We really liked the way they work, so we decided to subcontract projects for our clients to them on a White Label basis. We loved their workflow, the way they hand projects over to our team, their documentation and their work on the design system. Now we can take on bigger risks.”

FAQ
Questions that come up most often
Do you work with both F2P and premium titles?
Yes - they are two different worlds. In F2P we put the weight on the first five minutes (FTUE), D1/D7 retention and microtransaction monetisation. In premium titles - on long-term progression, DLC content and the community lifecycle. We design the companion app in sync with the economy of the main title, not next to it.
Do you design IAP stores and loot boxes without sliding into dark patterns?
Yes - microtransactions are the foundation of F2P monetisation, but we design them within the bounds of common sense. A transparent in-app currency rate, drop rates in loot boxes shown clearly (in line with the regulations in DE, NL and BE), no timed offers that aggressively exploit FOMO. Ethical monetisation converts worse in the first week, but better over LTV.
How do you design for the player community and speak its language?
We start with interviews with the core of the community (Discord, the title’s subreddits, forums) - players smell corporate language and manufactured hype a mile off. We write microcopy in the tone of the subculture (with humour, without talking down), and the same goes for empty states and error messages. Patch notes and service announcements are meant to be read, not skipped.
Do you cover esports platforms and Web3 gaming?
Yes - tournament tooling, ladder systems, player profiles, stream integrations (Twitch, YouTube Gaming) and Discord. In Web3 gaming we design real ownership of assets, ICOs and tokenisation, and education for players from outside crypto. Critical states (a gas spike, a pending transaction) we design explicitly, we don’t hide them in a toast.
