Challenges

The shop floor, the ERP and the product catalogue are three interfaces of one company and three contexts of use

    Field research on the floor (ethnography, shadowing), an HMI ergonomics audit, redesign of the critical views - large buttons, readable in gloves, a clear alarm hierarchy. We validate with a prototype and real operators before rollout.

  • „The ERP has grown over the years and a new hire has no idea where to start.”

    Interviews with operators, shift leaders and the production department, a refactor of the information architecture, design of components that handle many roles and permission levels. Documentation ready for the team implementing the refactor on the system side.

  • „The product catalogue lives in a PDF, and customers ask for data that should be online.”

    Design of a digital catalogue and a B2B platform for distributors, PIM integration, a filtering system for multi-variant products. Printed catalogues replaced by a fully digital presentation of the offer.

We hand over the design in a format the automation team and the developers responsible for integrating with existing plant systems - ERP, MES, PIM, quality control - can read.

  • Operator panels and HMI for production lines

    Interfaces for managing machines and assembly lines, terminals on the shop floor, touchscreens operated in gloves. Large buttons, legible icons, an alarm hierarchy - so the operator never has to take their eyes off the line to understand what is happening.

  • MES systems, quality control, OEE reporting

    MES modules for shift leaders and supervisors, panels for logging defects and downtime causes, OEE dashboards for management. Refactoring the information architecture of ERP systems that have grown well beyond their original design.

  • Engineering tools and B2B platforms for manufacturers

    Interfaces for CAD/CAE software, product catalogues for distributors, B2B platforms for ordering components. Integrations with PIM, ERP and the OEM catalogue - multi-variant products presented clearly, with no paper catalogues.

Process

Five steps - from the first conversation to post-launch measurement

We scale the scope to the product. For operator panels the emphasis is on handling in gloves and alarm readability. For engineering and CAD tooling - on the density of technical data and the speed of the designer’s work. For ERP/MES systems - on roles (operator, shift leader, production manager, quality control) and on refactoring an information architecture overgrown by 20 years of added features.

  1. 30 min

    Discovery call - 30 minutes

    Online, with the lead designer. We get to know the product, the metrics you judge it by, and the regulatory context it operates in.

  2. Week 1–2

    Audit and discovery

    Analytics, session recordings, user interviews, heuristic review. The barriers people actually hit become design hypotheses.

  3. Week 3–6

    UX/UI design

    Wireframes, a prototype you can click through, the final interface. Documentation written for the team that will ship it - tokens, states and responsive behaviour included.

  4. Week 6–7

    Validation

    Tests with real users, or an A/B test in production. The design changes on the strength of what we saw, before it reaches code.

  5. After launch

    Delivery and care

    We work side by side with your developers - implementation review, fixes, additions to the library. After launch we measure and come back with the next hypotheses.

FAQ

Questions that come up most often

Do you design for specific ERP systems - SAP, BPSC, IFS?

Yes. We have worked on projects integrating with Polish and global ERP systems. The specifics: refactoring the information architecture of modules that outgrew their original design, mapping fields onto entities on the system side, and documentation in a format the implementation team can read.

Can you research users directly on the production floor?

Yes - ethnography and field observation are standard for us when we design for operators. We go onto the floor, shadow operators through a shift, and document the real working conditions (noise, gloves, lighting, time pressure). That is the only way to design an interface that survives field conditions.

Do you also design B2B platforms and product catalogues for manufacturers?

Yes. A component or materials manufacturer typically has a catalogue with thousands of variants - size, colour, technical parameters, net price differing per counterparty. We design filters, variant configurators and B2B ordering paths matched to the industrial buyer’s procurement process.

Do you cover the automation side and PLC controllers?

We do not design PLC programs or control logic - that is done by the client’s or partner’s automation team. We design the interface layer on top of that logic: operator screens, production dashboards, management panels. We write documentation in a format that makes mapping controller events onto UI views easier.
